About The Position

The Director of Finance at Decatur Family YMCA is responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting and financial records, guiding financial decisions that impact the community. This role involves managing a $3.5 million budget, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing leadership in financial operations. The Director will work closely with various departments, including human resources, to support payroll activities and maintain strong internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
• Professional designation (CPA, CMA) preferred.
• Three or more years of related experience in accounting.
• Accounting experience in a nonprofit organization preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and standard business software.

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of accounting and business operations, ensuring legal and audit requirements are met.
• Oversee and provide leadership to the annual budget process, including issuing guidelines and procedures, training staff, and preparing reports.
• Write clear and concise financial reports using correct grammar and appropriate tone.
• Work with the CEO to present monthly financial reports to the YMCA Finance Committee.
• Manage the annual independent audit and preparation of financial statements and IRS 990 tax form.
• Implement systems and internal controls to safeguard the YMCA's financial resources.
• Prepare or supervise the preparation of outside reports and filings.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closings and preparation of statements and reports.
• Manage personnel and payroll administration, maintaining records and related systems.
