About The Position

The Director of Finance at Liberty Resources is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the accounting operations and maximizing the return on financial assets. This position involves establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to ensure the accuracy and productivity of accounting functions across multiple entities. The Director will lead the Finance Department, manage external audits, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards while fostering a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Five years' experience managing an accounting function in a medium-sized organization, preferably in the fund or not-for-profit sector.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Prior auditing and payroll management experience required.
  • Knowledge of well-defined accounting office practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in report writing, word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

  • Familiarity with payroll processing systems and changes in wage and tax laws.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of all day-to-day accounting functions for multiple entities.
  • Direct the Finance Department in creating timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Oversee general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  • Lead all activities for external audits and tax return reporting.
  • Direct the Finance and Grants team in the monthly financial statement close process.
  • Prepare analysis and information reports for management and the Board of Directors.
  • Review and approve reconciliations of balance sheet accounts in the general ledger.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions.
  • Prepare and maintain agency cash flow reports.
  • Manage banking administration and user controls on multiple banking platforms.
  • Monitor debt covenant reporting and performance.
  • Chair monthly meetings with division Vice Presidents and Directors to review financial performance.
  • Administer accounting systems and serve as main contact for vendors and accounting firms.
  • Prepare purchase accounting for potential future acquisitions and assist in onboarding.
  • Set and monitor annual goals for the finance team.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
