About The Position

The DeSoto Parish School Board is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to serve as the Director of Finance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the fiscal responsibility and efficiency of the school system. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Superintendent and leadership team to uphold the highest standards of financial management, support educational initiatives, and align resources to strategic goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an educational or governmental setting.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in financial reporting systems, budget management, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• CPA certification (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial operations of the district, including budgeting, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable.
• Develop and monitor budgets aligned with district priorities and goals.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide regular financial reports and recommendations to district leadership and the board.
• Collaborate with departments to maximize fiscal efficiency and transparency.
• Oversee the annual financial audit.
• Oversee the coordination and negotiation of employee benefits and property and liability insurance for the system.
• Assist the superintendent with all tax and bond referendums and legal issues related to financial and business matters.
