About The Position

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. Our company is seeking a professional to fill the role of Director of Field Construction Operations who will be responsible for directing the Construction Division through daily, weekly and monthly scheduling, project management and crew performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in the water tank industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four years of welding experience or comprehensive welding knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as construction bid specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The ideal candidate must have working knowledge of all job specific operating procedures, be extremely quality conscious and detail oriented, accept responsibility and account for own actions, have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be able to build solid relationships with internal and external customers, be dependable and trustworthy, and have basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leads an interdepartmental team to oversee phases of water tower projects on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinates activities with the Shop Fabrication team to ensure accurate and timely production support.
  • Collaborates with the Maintenance team to schedule and coordinate required equipment services.
  • Plans, coordinates, and schedules daily work activities for field teams to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and distributes progress reports, providing recommendations for adjustments when necessary.
  • Works closely with Project Management to align project timelines with scheduled completion dates.
  • Enters new projects into field schedules and assigns them to the appropriate crews based on workload and expertise.
  • Leads weekly or bi‑weekly scheduling meetings to ensure all teams remain informed of project status and upcoming tasks.
  • Sources and procures specialized field equipment required for the setup of new construction rigs.
  • Ensures adequate inventory levels to support newly sold projects and ongoing operational needs.
  • Monitors, measures, and evaluates job performance on a regular basis and communicates results to leadership.
  • Reviews fabrication drawings for accuracy and compliance with established design requirements.
  • Identifies and addresses safety violations or deficiencies to maintain compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Staff crews to appropriate capacity to meet operational and project demands.
  • Approves employee timecards and manages requests for time off in alignment with staffing requirements.
  • Schedules crews for assigned projects, ensuring proper allocation of skills and resources.
  • Communicates and enforces all safety procedures, site rules, and compliance requirements across field teams.
  • Provides weekly progress updates on each crew to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicates key milestones and progress points for each job to ensure alignment with project expectations.
