The Director of Facilities is a pivotal role within our client's esteemed educational institution located in Columbus, NC. This position is responsible for directing and administering all project management activities related to the construction, renovation, and maintenance of the institution's facilities, grounds, and systems. The Director will play a crucial role in ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe and conducive environment for students, staff, and visitors alike. In this role, the Director will plan and oversee the maintenance of the facilities and grounds, ensuring that all capital projects, including new constructions and renovations, are executed efficiently and effectively. The Director will initiate the preparation of plans and specifications necessary for competitive bidding on construction, renovation, and repair projects that are essential for the operation and support of the College. Regular inspections and reviews of projects will be conducted to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, as well as other relevant regulations. The Director will serve as a liaison with various stakeholders, including architects, construction managers, and state and county agencies, to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for directing the purchase of materials, equipment, and contracted services related to facilities management, as well as selecting and contracting with external contractors as needed. The role also includes collaboration with external agencies such as the Fire Marshall and Duke Power Engineer, and the Director will be designated as the Occupational Safety Co-Coordinator.
