About The Position

The Director of Facilities Maintenance at The Blake at St. Johns is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and housekeeping operations of the facility. This role combines leadership with hands-on management to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable living environment for residents. The position emphasizes emergency preparedness, staff supervision, and the implementation of preventative maintenance procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA compliance and laws.
  • Preferably two (2) years of supervisory experience in the building industry, maintenance, and/or housekeeping.
  • Possess knowledge of building construction types.
  • Ability to explain work duties to staff.
  • Ability to effectively interact with residents, families, employees, visitors, co-workers, and government agencies.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks daily and meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • Basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, glass replacement, painting, masonry, groundskeeping, commercial appliance repair, electrical wiring, and safety practices related to building trades.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and documents such as safety rules and operating procedures.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and identify projects needing outside contractor services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial appliance repair.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with emergency preparedness and required safety drills.
  • Plan, organize, develop, and direct the general operating maintenance, repair, and housekeeping of the physical building.
  • Hire, evaluate, coordinate, motivate, monitor performance, schedule, and supervise department staff including housekeepers and an Assistant Director of Facility Maintenance.
  • Repair physical structures and grounds, ensuring a safe and secure living environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Implement procedures for preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist with transportation of residents as needed.
