About The Position

The overall purpose of this job is to provide in-house engineering support for building systems on behalf of the Facilities Maintenance Department at Tennessee Tech University. The Director of Facilities Engineering will also introduce maintenance and reliability best practices and initiate an asset management strategy across the Facilities portfolio. Additionally, the Facilities Engineer will leverage the existing Computerized Maintenance Management System to implement a strategic preventive maintenance program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years directly related professional work experience with a focus on HVAC/R systems.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience.
  • Valid Tennessee Driver's License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or related field.
  • Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System and respective data analysis.
  • Previous experience with preventive maintenance program for educational or industrial complexes.
  • Experience with building infrastructure analysis and assessments.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems for educational or industrial complexes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support related to the institutional building systems (primarily mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems) at Tennessee Tech University.
  • Utilize the existing campus Building Automation System to monitor campus conditions.
  • Participate in performing and documenting facility and infrastructure assessments.
  • Participate in Capital Project Design reviews for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Collaborate with Capital Projects department to expand and continuously refine campus construction standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with creation and refinement of standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Consult with departments that are in the planning stages of pursuing grants that, if awarded, will require facility and/or infrastructure modifications.
  • Initiate and maintain an asset management strategy for critical facility and infrastructure components across the campus.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System to implement preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Assist in-house work force with minor design recommendations.
