About The Position

The Director of Entertainment is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing a diverse and engaging entertainment and lifestyle programming experience for community members. This role is essential in creating programs that not only meet but exceed the expectations of current and prospective members, fostering connection, engagement, and overall quality of life. The Director of Entertainment leads entertainment and fitness programming, supervises key coordinators, manages budgets, and collaborates with internal departments and external partners to deliver high-quality experiences aligned with Jubilation’s brand and mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Hospitality, Theater, or a related field
  • Minimum two years of professional experience in entertainment, hospitality, cruise, or resort settings
  • At least three years of supervisory experience
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and manage budgets
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and assist with event setup
  • Ability to stoop, stretch, lift, and use a step stool
  • Ability to assist members with boarding transportation, sitting, standing, and walking
  • Requires good visual, hearing, and verbal communication abilities
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood or body fluids, cleaning chemicals, and odors

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Entertainment Coordinator and Fitness Coordinator
  • Provide ongoing coaching, development, and performance feedback
  • Foster a collaborative, engaging, and member-focused team culture
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct a balanced entertainment and lifestyle program that encourages participation across all member interests and abilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lecturers, performers, volunteers, and community resources
  • Coordinate educational, recreational, cultural, and fitness programming
  • Conduct new member orientations and serve as a resource for new members
  • Publicize events, programs, and presentations across multiple platforms
  • Oversee publication of the Entertainment Newsletter in alignment with Jubilation branding standards
  • Oversee the implementation and ongoing use of the Jubilations App and mobile calendar
  • Ensure proper use of community branding and logo across all materials
  • Coordinate transportation for events and programs based on member needs
  • Schedule community drivers and outside transportation resources
  • Ensure all necessary supplies and materials are available for each program
  • Oversee the Fitness Coordinator and physical fitness programming
  • Coordinate fitness education and wellness initiatives
  • Network with qualified instructors, educators, and health professionals
  • Develop annual plans, goals, budgets, pricing, and performance standards
  • Monitor departmental budgets and control expenditures
  • Maintain accurate records and submit billing for services
  • Prepare required reports, surveys, and documentation
  • Coordinate services with other departments and disciplines
  • Support Lifestyle Department events and initiatives
  • Communicate with members and families when changes in condition require additional services
  • Participate in emergency response efforts and perform assigned duties as needed
  • Encourage active participation and engagement within the community
  • Assist members in determining appropriate activity levels
  • Attend required in-service training and education sessions
  • Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager
