About The Position

Under the general supervision of the VP of Engineering, the Engineering Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects while fostering innovation, ensuring technical excellence, and aligning team efforts with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 5–10 years in engineering roles, with 2+ years in leadership positions
  • Deep understanding of engineering principles and project lifecycle
  • Strong team management, mentoring, and strategic planning skills
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and product development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; stakeholder engagement
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or Budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and resource planning

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship and performance and feedback.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Ensure team members plan and refine project scopes and requirements, then coordinate, and execute engineering projects from concept to completion utilizing and documenting per the defined APQP Process.
  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams (e.g., MRPC quality, supply chain, manufacturing, business development and customer contacts for projects)
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocations.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions and lessons learned when needed.
  • Able to perform duties of a Project Engineer to better mentor and coach the team.
  • Review and approve technical designs, documentation, and project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control processes.
  • Onboard and train new engineers to the MRPC process but also in their individual technical skill development.
  • Select and develop individual tool makers, mold components, and service providers.
  • Provide a robust process for DFM (Design for Manufacturing) to include molding and assembly.
  • Provide overall project updates using a clear, concise communication method using visual tools to gauge progress of various projects
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with customers for technical solutions, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Interface with tool makers for a clear understanding of expectations which may include defined scope, steel adjustments, and other deliverables.
