We build the user-facing, "no-code" platform that empowers our customers to solve complex identity and business process challenges without writing a single line of code. Our product is a critical part of Okta's Identity Orchestration strategy, providing a powerful, flexible, and intuitive way for customers to connect identity to any application or system. We are a passionate, collaborative team building with modern technologies like React, Typescript, and Node.js on a large-scale, multi-cloud (AWS and GCP) Kubernetes environment. As the Director of Engineering for Workflows Experiences, you will be a key leader in defining the future of Identity Orchestration at Okta. You will lead, grow, and inspire the engineering teams responsible for building the entire user-facing experience of the Okta Workflows platform. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you will be responsible for both strategic product direction and operational excellence, ultimately helping our customers automate everything without code.

Requirements

12+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering organizations, including experience managing other managers.
A strong technical background leading teams that build both complex user interfaces (e.g., React, Typescript) and scalable backend services (e.g., Node.js).
Demonstrated success in collaborating with product and design counterparts to build and execute a long-term, customer-focused roadmap.
Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing engineering talent at all levels.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a large, globally distributed organization

Nice To Haves

Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead, recruit, and mentor multiple teams of engineers, architects and engineering managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and psychological safety.
Partner closely with senior leaders in Product Management and Design to define a compelling product vision and execute a multi-year roadmap.
Drive the technical strategy for the Workflows user experience, ensuring we are building a secure, scalable, reliable, and intuitive platform on modern technologies like React, Node.js, and Kubernetes.
Own and manage the operational rhythm of your organization, establishing metrics and processes to ensure engineering excellence and predictable delivery.
Represent your teams and strategy in senior leadership forums and company-wide reviews, translating technical progress into data-driven narratives.
Partner with finance teams to manage budget cycles and control costs for your groups.
Build strong relationships with other engineering leaders and stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and drive complex, cross-functional projects to completion.
