As part of Teledyne LeCroy, OakGate Technology develops innovative test solutions for NVMe, PCIe, and memory technologies. Within Teledyne, Oakgate is the centre of excellence for advanced storage validation, test, and analysis platforms and is located in Loomis, CA. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to oversee the design, development, and delivery of our industry-leading validation software and hardware platforms for NVMe, PCIe, and emerging memory technologies. This role requires a strong technical foundation in software and system architecture, coupled with proven leadership in managing cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Oversee architecture, design, and implementation of all OakGate validation tools (software and hardware).
  • Drive innovation in storage protocol validation, automation, and data analysis platforms.
  • Ensure seamless integration between front-end applications, protocol engines, drivers, and hardware control layers.
  • Champion software quality, maintainability, and scalability across releases.
  • Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams across software, hardware, QA, and platform integration.
  • Define clear engineering goals, KPIs, and success metrics aligned with product roadmap milestones.
  • Oversee resource planning, sprint execution, and inter-team coordination.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Take full ownership of software and hardware products for engineering.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to translate customer needs into platform capabilities.
  • Partner with System Validation and Lab Operations to ensure robust test coverage and field reliability.
  • Drive architectural decisions that support next-generation protocols (e.g., CXL 3.x, PCIe 6.x, NVMe 2.x) and AI-enabled diagnostics.
  • Implement best practices for version control, CI/CD, and automated regression testing.
  • Own design reviews, release readiness assessments, and post-mortem analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer delivery expectations.
  • Work closely with executive leadership on strategic technology direction and R&D investments.
  • Interface with key customers and partners to align validation tools with industry evolution.
  • Contribute to technical marketing and customer presentations when appropriate.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in software/hardware engineering, with 5+ years in management.
  • Strong understanding of Linux, kernel driver architecture, and system-level performance analysis.
  • Experience with enterprise test automation frameworks, data analytics, and lab management tools.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams (software, firmware, hardware, QA).
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex, multi-component systems on schedule.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Technical expertise in storage, PCIe/NVMe/SAS/CXL protocols, or equivalent validation ecosystems a plus.
  • Exposure to NPI process as part of product development.
  • Experience working with AI/ML-driven analytics and modern DevOps environments also a plus.
  • Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop systems, signal capture tools (LeCroy, Teledyne), and trace analysis workflows highly desirable.
