Requirements

  • Strong expertise in building data products with complex backend logic.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on backend development experience.
  • Ability to be a player-coach, going into the details and looking into the code as well as managing the team.
  • Experience in leading engineering organizations and providing technical guidance and mentorship.

  • Experience in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Familiarity with the payroll data domain.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers on key technical decisions, break ties, and escalate short-term decisions that may have long-term impacts on the product and user experience.
  • Maintain alignment between product and engineering and coordinate multiple work streams across the platform, application, and integration teams with a focus on achieving high-quality, on-time deliverables.
  • Define and track engineering performance metrics while upholding a culture of quality, clarifying scope of work, ensuring clear accountability, and creating learning opportunities.
  • Set up teams for success by helping define organizational and individual career paths, unifying the team behind company goals, and encouraging collaboration across teams.
  • Serve as a reliable, proactive partner for all functions throughout the company, including product, design, sales, marketing, people, and operations.
