About The Position

As the Director of Engineering Operations, you will lead the evolution of Texada’s cloud, DevOps, and AI-driven operational capabilities. This role blends strategic leadership with technical excellence across cloud infrastructure, automation, observability, availability, developer experience, and the operationalization of AI. You will shape the future of our SaaS platform for equipment dealers and rental companies, ensuring it is scalable, resilient, secure, and increasingly intelligent. Work location and travel This position is remote/hybrid. Our home office is located in Mississauga, ON. While there are no regular office days, there may be meetings you would be expected to attend in the office.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in the software industry building highly scalable and performant technology solutions.
  • Deep experience balancing CloudOps, DevOps and DevExp strategies for modern cloud-native systems.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI-Ops techniques.
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS architecture, infrastructure management, and operational automation.
  • Strong background in CI/CD, cost optimization, container orchestration, observability, and DevSecOps.
  • Experience operationalizing ML/AI systems and implementing AIOps frameworks.
  • Skilled in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and collaborating across functions.
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Define and lead the CloudOps + DevOps strategy, aligning infrastructure, tooling, operations, and AI-enabled automation with Texada’s product and business goals. Drive the modernization of our platform with a balanced focus on availability, velocity, cost efficiency, and intelligent automation. Build and scale a world-class engineering operations function that empowers developers and improves engineering throughput.
  • Cloud Operations & Platform Architecture: Architect and evolve highly available, fault-tolerant, and cost-optimized AWS environments using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, EKS, and CloudFront. Oversee day-to-day cloud operations, resource optimization, disaster recovery, and multi-environment consistency. Implement secure-by-design cloud architectures and enforce strong patterns for IAM, network segmentation, encryption, logging, and compliance.
  • DevOps, Automation & Developer Experience: Lead the strategy and execution of CI/CD, release automation, and environment orchestration using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and TeamCity. Expand infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform) to enable repeatable, auditable, and automated deployments. Partner with engineering teams to improve developer productivity, reliability, and feedback cycles.
  • AI-Driven Operations & Intelligent Platforms: Introduce and scale AI-enabled operational capabilities, including: Predictive infrastructure scaling using ML signals AI-assisted anomaly detection and incident prediction Automated runbook generation and remediation Intelligent monitoring, alerting, and log analysis AI-driven insights into system health, cost optimization, and performance Champion the adoption of AI-driven DevOps (AIOps) to materially improve uptime, speed, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Security, Compliance & Operational Excellence: Collaborate with Security to maintain and evolve Texada’s cloud security posture. Ensure regulatory compliance and operational governance across all production environments. Lead post-incident reviews, service maturity initiatives, and reliability improvements with an engineering mindset and continuous improvement culture.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team. Validate architectural decisions and review technical designs. Foster a supportive environment for team members' growth and development.
  • Advocate of Modern Cloud Practices: Champion modern cloud practices and methodologies. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud computing. Promote a culture of continuous learning and experimentation.
  • Inspiring Leadership: Lead by example, inspiring and guiding the team to excellence. Provide valuable insights and mentorship for individual and group effectiveness. Cultivate a collaborative culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
