About The Position

The Director of Emergency Housing (DEH) oversees the management of the Red Shield Family Residence (RSFR) and Eliza Shirley House (ESH), both 24/7 trauma-informed emergency housing programs, including ensuring healthy and safe operations in compliance with all federal, state, and local mandates, as well as necessary funding requirements. The DEH is responsible for all aspects of the program, including direct supervision of both Assistant Directors, the supervision of after hours, provision of clinical supervision to all Case Managers at RSFR and ESH, staff development, personnel administration, and all reporting requirements needed for program renewal and grant writing. The DEH communicates with corporations, funding sources, organizations, government agencies, community, and church groups at a variety of organizational levels to further the outreach of mission of The Salvation Army and its shelter ministry.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree is Social Work (MSW).
  • Previous experience managing emergency housing programs.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter Training, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years.
  • Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Sanctuary Model.

Nice To Haves

  • LSW/LCSW preferred.
  • Training in trauma-informed care (Sanctuary Model Training) preferred.
