The Director of Embedded Software will lead the development and execution of embedded device software strategies for Pison's innovative neural biosensor devices. This critical role involves overseeing the full embedded software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced leader and developer with a strong background in embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and firmware development for low power consumer or wearable devices. A passion for pushing technological boundaries and a deep understanding of the complexities of integrating software with advanced hardware are essential.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage talented embedded engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding of new engineers.
  • Allocate resources and manage delivery effectively.
  • Act as both a people manager and a senior individual contributor contributing to our technology and codebases.
  • Define and execute on the firmware roadmap for Pison's device portfolio, aligning with company objectives and product vision.
  • Architect and develop robust, high-quality software and firmware solutions for embedded systems within Pison's neural biosensor devices.
  • Manage internal and external embedded firmware resources.
  • Ensure seamless integration of device software with mobile and cloud applications.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of software testing to guarantee performance, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, data science, and product management.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development and patent filings.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Deep understanding of embedded systems architecture and design principles.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing software development teams.
  • Extensive experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and other relevant programming languages.
  • Experience with firmware development for wearable devices or other resource-constrained environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Bluetooth Low Energy or other similar communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with software version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for innovation and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology.
  • Experience with Zephyr OS.
  • Experience with West build system.
