The Director of Elementary Education at Columbia Public Schools is responsible for leading academic programs and systems to enhance student proficiency rates. The director will have decision-making authority over daily academic and operational issues and will work closely with various departments to foster consistency and resource utilization.

  • Inspire and maintain a shared mission and vision for learning in collaboration with administrators and educators.
  • Develop goals, objectives, and priorities that support district-wide initiatives.
  • Establish programs and activities that align with the district's vision, mission, values, and goals.
  • Ensure academic success in the elementary division through leadership excellence and instructional support.
  • Support principals in promoting high levels of student engagement and achievement.
  • Direct and evaluate improvement cycles based on school performance, aligning with the district's strategic plan.
  • Maintain positive relations within the district and promote active engagement and collaboration.
  • Regularly visit schools to monitor operations and support principals' growth and professional development.
  • Conduct teacher observations and develop professional development plans for building leaders.
  • Evaluate and monitor class sizes to ensure effective resource use.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Minimum of four to five years of administrative or supervisory experience, including experience as a school leader in an elementary setting.
  • Elementary principal certification or superintendent certification.
  • Educational Specialist degree and/or Doctoral degree in Education, Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
  • Full-time position with a salary range of $112,000 - $159,600 per year.
  • 12-month contract with 259 days of work.
