The Director of Educational Technology provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight for the integration of technology into all areas of teaching, learning, and district operations. This role leads the planning, implementation, and management of digital tools and infrastructure that promote positive student outcomes and staff efficiency. The Director of Educational Technology works closely with district and school leadership to ensure that technology is aligned with instructional goals and organizational priorities, including the responsible exploration and integration of emerging tools.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning to evaluate, recommend, and implement instructional technology tools and digital learning platforms.
  • Lead Educational Technology Coaches to ensure consistent and impactful technology integration.
  • Design and deliver professional development on topics including software platforms, digital pedagogy, AI in education, cybersecurity, and blended/online learning.
  • Promote technology as a driver for personalized learning, student engagement, creativity, and academic growth.
  • Support the district’s Computer Science CTE Pathway to ensure alignment with graduation requirements and industry standards.
  • Create a district-wide professional development plan for educational technology.
  • Develop and implement a long-term district-wide educational technology plan aligned with strategic priorities and academic goals.
  • Stay current on educational technology trends, AI, cybersecurity, data privacy, and instructional innovation.
  • Pilot and evaluate emerging technologies such as generative AI, AR/VR, and analytics tools.
  • Build district capacity and readiness for the evolving role of AI in teaching, learning, and operations.
  • Provide leadership for the district’s core data systems, including infrastructure (firewalls, servers, wireless, etc.), SIS (PowerSchool), LMS, assessment platforms, and integrations.
  • Oversee selection, acquisition, deployment, inventory, maintenance, and lifecycle of all hardware and software.
  • Lead disaster recovery, network monitoring, and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Manage the educational technology operating budget and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), ensuring sustainability and strategic alignment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all state and federal technology and data requirements.
  • Serve as the district’s liaison and negotiator with vendors, service providers, and educational partners.
  • Partner with academic and operational departments—including facilities, finance, curriculum, and student services—to ensure technology solutions meet cross-functional needs.
  • Support school leaders and front office staff in leveraging technology for increased efficiency and improved service.
  • Work closely with educators, administrators, students, families, and the broader community to foster shared ownership of technology initiatives.
  • Support technology staff, including network administrators, SIS/data teams, technicians, and EdTech coaches.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture grounded in service, equity, and innovation that aligns with district instructional and operational goals.
  • Provide clear direction, feedback, and development opportunities to support continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and refine departmental performance in alignment with district goals.
  • Develop and enforce technology-related policies, including those concerning digital equity, responsible use, data security, and privacy.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates.
  • Design and implement evaluation systems to measure the effectiveness and impact of technology on student learning and instructional improvement.
  • Lead a collaborative team of technology staff, including network administrators, SIS/data teams, technicians, and EdTech coaches.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of district-wide testing, serving as the lead contact for state assessments, benchmark testing, and other standardized assessments to ensure accurate administration, data integrity, and compliance with testing protocols.
  • Pilot and evaluate emerging technologies, including the ethical and educational use of generative AI, Augmented Reality (AR)/Virtual Reality (VR), data analytics, and student-centered platforms
  • Build awareness and district readiness around the evolving role of AI in teaching, assessment, administrative support, and professional learning.
