This position is responsible for the coordination of infrastructure related technology in the Diocese of Orlando with a focus on diocesan schools. The role serves as a liaison between the Office of Information Systems and Technology, the Office of Catholic Schools, and Diocesan schools as well as an advisor on policy, compliance, technology budgeting, vendor relationships, and emerging technologies, including AI. This position ensures all technical solutions support the mission of the diocese and meet regulatory and operational requirements.   • Consults with principals and schools regarding technology needs, implementation, and planning.
  • Provides guidance and direction to school Technology Coordinators and staff.
  • Ensures school infrastructure meets minimum requirements for online standardized testing.
  • Ensures minimum technical requirements are met for STREAM accreditation.
  • Manages and files E-Rate funding applications for all schools requesting Category 1 and 2 services.
  • Reviews and provides input on school technology budgets.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of school cybersecurity plans.
  • Provides input on diocesan AI and emerging technology policy.
  • Provides guidance on appropriate security software and content filtering to meet CIPA requirements.
  • Participates in discussions related to the development and review of comprehensive school technology plans.
  • Chairs the Diocesan School Technology Committee and convenes quarterly meetings with Technology Coordinators and school technology vendors.
  • Serves as liaison to technology vendors and provides guidance on procurement decisions.
  • Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing systems and applications by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Participates in meetings involving school-related or diocesan-wide technology matters.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology trends through workshops, technical publications, networks, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Assists with the management and development of various educational training courses for diocesan employees and volunteers using the diocesan Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Assists with the development of automated processes contributing to process improvement
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects operations by safeguarding information and systems.
  • Contributes to team efforts by performing related responsibilities as needed.
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.   • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, and 3-5 years of experience in the information technology field.
  • Experience with Windows, Mac, and Apple and Android operating systems, network topologies, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with MS 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Experience with the E-rate funding process.
  • Experience in implementing effective and innovative software development methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead a progressive IT group.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and motivate professional staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Broad knowledge of information systems, concepts, and methodologies.
  • Understanding and appreciation of church related business/functions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required; solid writing skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration across departments and serve as a trusted advisor.
  • A high level of organizational and interpersonal skill is required. Attention to detail and working well with others is also required.
  • Ability to read and analyze written and electronic correspondence and compose appropriate responses utilizing others in the organization when appropriate.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present verbal and written information to constituencies and public groups.
  • The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar.
  • Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).
  • Ability to apply appropriate mathematical concepts and operations in establishing and maintaining budgets.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals using U.S. standards of currency and measurement.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • 2-3 years working in an educational technology environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with process improvement tools such as electronic forms workflow and MS SharePoint a plus but not a requirement.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and online course design a plus.
