About The Position

The director of education programs position will be responsible for developing new education opportunities for the organization and its dedicated education sub-brand by growing and scaling outreach and programming for K-12 educators, law enforcement agencies, partner organizations and community members, administrators, and other officials at the local, district, state and national levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years as a licensed K-12 teacher, or other commensurate experience in the education sector.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate in cross cultural and cross-functional settings.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proven ability to prepare effective pitch presentations; excellent public speaking skills
  • Deep network of contacts with educational institutions, school systems, or educational policy bodies, or the ability to develop such networks.
  • Solid understanding of education industry adoption and update cycles; district, state, and federal policies, and decision making processes, and professional standards
  • Ability to develop and scale educational programs that can be adapted for diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated skills in crafting, executing, and tracking educational outreach plans and strategies for diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to travel nationally up to a maximum 20% (subject to revision).
  • Comply with established COVID-19 vaccination requirements, as determined by individual organizations and local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Operate computer, including viewing a computer monitor, for extended periods.
  • Drive a vehicle, whether owned or rented.
  • Travel periodically by air, train, or car.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the director of the department, develop and implement a strategic plan to cultivate and strengthen ties with key K-12 education stakeholders, partner organizations, law enforcement agencies, and education administrative officials at the local, district, state, and national levels.
  • Spearhead educational presentations/trainings for K-12 educators and law enforcement agencies across the country
  • Attend education conferences in key states as an exhibitor and/or presenter
  • Participate in the development and distribution of K-12 educational resources in collaboration with external curriculum designers, in-house content specialists, and others as necessary.
  • Scale Dharma Ambassadors training program, including in person trainings for community members.
  • Meet regularly with leadership to review progress, challenges and successes, making adjustments to plan as necessary.
