About The Position

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programming and Support (DDEI) is a full-time, administrative position that manages the DEI Office and programming, including three direct reports: two DEI Coordinators (DCs) and the DEI Student Support Liaison (DSSL). The DDEI is managed by the Director of Institutional Equity (DoIE) and collaborates laterally with the other two program directors on the Equity and Engagement Team (EET): the Director of Community Engagement (DCE) and the Director of Global Education (DGE). Collectively, the EET directors are supported by the Equity and Engagement Team Administrator (EA). The DDEI is also expected to teach one course section and advise students.

Responsibilities

  • Manage three direct reports (2 DCs & DSSL), including regular 1:1s and continual feedback/support outside of team meetings
  • Manage office programming and events, including the Cultural Calendar, Assemblies, and Programming for underrepresented families (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, etc.)
  • Oversee student leadership in partnership with the Dean of Student Life, including leadership application processes, leadership training processes, and coordination of student leadership coalition building between groups (e.g. BRIDGE, affinity council)
  • Collaborate with DCE and DGE on synergistic programming and events, including annual EET theme, EET student leadership, guest speakers, community gatherings, and engagement of families and alums
  • Collaborate with DGE to coordinate student conference attendance, including both national and local conferences
  • Collaborate with Director of Multicultural Outreach (DMO) to support SOAR Scholars and their families, including intentional programming and oversight of DSSL
  • Manage the DEI Office budget, including preparation of annual DEI Office budget request (to DoIE)
  • Coordinate with MarCom and divisional administration about events and programming, in support of information dissemination and appropriate coverage (including The Weekly Update, The Week Ahead, etc.)
  • Collaborate with DCE and DGE to amplify the community’s culture of citizenship, belonging, and interest in understanding others across entire student body
  • Facilitate DEI Office partnership with the DSLs and grade deans to support students, including work with bias incident reporting, protocols, and restorative education
  • Manage the student Bias Incident Support Protocol, from handling reporting/intake to delivering restorative education, partnering with the DSLs to support communication with families and consideration of any disciplinary involvement
  • Collaborate with DSLs to integrate DEI concepts and skills into Advisory programming
  • Oversight of student clubs and organizations related to issues of equity and engagement (e.g. BRIDGE)
  • Oversee US and MS affinity group leadership and cultural calendar programming, including training and support for affinity advisors
  • Support DoIE with professional development and support for faculty, including management of DEI resources in both Canvas and RiversNet.
