About The Position

The Director of Discipleship leads and aligns discipleship across the entire church - Kids, Students, and Adults - ensuring that every person has a clear pathway to grow in Scripture, community, and spiritual practice. This role is both strategic and pastoral. The work is to clarify the discipleship pathway, equip lay leaders, support ministry staff, and help build a culture where disciples make disciples.

Requirements

A clear calling to pastoral ministry
Demonstrated experience equipping and multiplying lay leaders
Strong biblical and theological foundation
Experience leading or collaborating across multiple ministry areas
High relational intelligence and organizational strength
Alignment with The Grove’s mission, values, and United Methodist context
Must be a Christian committed to living a life that reflects the Gospel, who feels called to the ministry of the church, and is comfortable working in a United Methodist Church environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and oversee a clear, church-wide discipleship pathway
Align Kids, Students, and Adult ministries around shared language and goals
Strengthen connection and assimilation processes so people can move from first visit to full participation
Identify opportunities for growth and lead strategic improvements
Recruit, train, and coach lay leaders across ministries
Build a leadership pipeline that identifies and develops emerging leaders
Equip leaders with tools for healthy group environments and disciple-making
Select and evaluate curriculum aligned with the church’s theology and vision
Provide strategic oversight and support to Kids and Student ministry leaders
Partner with staff to ensure cohesive ministry rhythms and strong handoffs
Track key ministry metrics to evaluate effectiveness and health
Steward budgets and ministry resources wisely
