About The Position

The Village Family Service Center is seeking a passionate and driven Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts in Fargo. This impactful role involves forging meaningful relationships with donors and stakeholders, inspiring them to invest in the mission of strengthening individuals, families, and communities. The Director will spearhead the development team in crafting innovative strategies, identifying new prospects, and building a sustainable future for The Village.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, human services or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of fundraising with a demonstrated track record.
  • 3-5 years in a Leadership or Management role with strong leadership competencies.
  • Knowledge of planned giving tools and processes.
  • Strength in the area of individual and corporate fundraising.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a non-judgmental attitude, respect for and sensitivity to diversity and individuality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fundraising reports, budgets, and other analytical data for Senior Leadership and President/CEO review.
  • Build strong relationships with donors, partners, and other key stakeholders and constituents.
  • In partnership with President/CEO, own corporate and foundation relationships for both current and prospective funders.
  • Solicit major gifts from donors.
  • Lead strategic planning for total development efforts to ensure strong connections with administration, communications, and annual giving.
  • Leverage development software and lead departmental usage to ensure data validity and accuracy to support strategic planning efforts.
  • Keep current on all Village programming and services to best represent The Village to potential donors.
  • Stay current on trends and options in financial planning relevant to planned giving.
  • Responsible for hiring, supervision, and performance development of all development staff in accordance with The Village's policies and applicable laws.
  • Supervise the Grants Coordinator and serve as backup for all grant deadlines and communications.
  • Present the annual expected grants and grant cycles to President/CEO and Senior Leadership team.
  • Collaborate with internal departments in the development and implementation of campaigns and events.
