About The Position

Thank you for your interest in employment with Southeastern Louisiana University. Southeastern Louisiana University's Vice President of University Advancement invites applications for the position of Director of Development. This position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects with the capacity to make a financial commitment in the form of a leadership ($1,000+), major ($25,000+), and/or planned gift, and reports to the Vice President of University Advancement. This position’s responsibilities are to develop knowledge base about the mission, goals, and priority funding needs of Southeastern Louisiana University. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donor prospects/donors. Design and implement coordinated and individualized outreach and engagement strategies for these individuals. Conduct discovery visits with alumni, and non-alumni, and work with alumni relations team to align fundraising efforts with targeted engagement of alumni. Write briefing documents, funding proposals, and other materials as needed in support of these efforts. Develop and manage a robust donor prospect/donor portfolio and meet established performance metrics. Represent the University both on and off campus. Maintain records of outreach and engagement activity in the constituent relationship management system. Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other team members. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Three to five years of demonstrated successful fundraising or related experience.
Ability to work well independently and in a goal-oriented team environment.
Adept at using various technology applications.
Must be willing to travel and work weekends and evenings as needed.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree
Experience successfully building, sustaining, and enhancing relationships with diverse range of external and internal stakeholders.
Strong record of managing multiple projects and priorities successfully and under deadlines with an attention to detail.
Experience in higher education, sales, business development, or related field preferred.
Direct solicitation of five-figure level gifts desired.
