Requirements Job Overview The Director of Development (DoD), Northeast, will be an integral member of the regional Development team who will research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in one of the University’s highest performing fundraising markets. This individual will build a portfolio of current and prospective donors with a focus on those who reside in the NYC metro market (NY, NJ, CT). The DoD Northeast will be responsible for all aspects of pipeline development within his or her portfolio, including prospective donor identification in his or her markets and engagement strategies to advance philanthropic conversations. The DOD, NE, will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of donors with a capacity of making gifts in the six to seven-figure range, executing engagement activities for fundraising efforts and managing fundraising priorities in support of Georgetown’s fundraising needs. As the portfolio matures, the Director will actively manage approximately 100-125 major gift prospects rated at $100,000 or higher, with philanthropic interests that vary across all the University’s strategic priorities. He or she is expected to make a minimum of 110-120 visits annually with current and prospective donors who could be undergraduate alumni, current and former parents, family foundations and friends of the University. The role will have an annual goal of raising $1 million to $3 million or more, actively soliciting and closing gifts of all sizes but with a specific focus on six- and, at times, seven-figure support. It will be crucial this role works closely with Advancement partners, moving prospects through the complete giving cycle—qualification, cultivation, solicitation, gift negotiation, and stewardship— all the while ensuring data integrity related to their portfolio. Oversight of this work will occur in collaboration with the Revenue Management Team and Development Leadership. In addition to the regional responsibilities, the Director of Development (DoD) NE will serve as a strategic development liaison to the work of Capital Planning and Projects fundraising at Georgetown, which relates to the work of philanthropic support and partnership for physical buildings and structures across all Georgetown campuses.
