About The Position

The Director of Development & Government Relations is responsible for leading Hamdard Health Alliance's overall fundraising strategy is cultivating and stewarding a diverse portfolio of private and public funders - both individual and institutional - through an array of programs, including annual fund, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and events. The Director is also responsible for building sustained relationships with local, state, and federal officials who can expand Hamdard's access to public funding and who can support Hamdard's advocacy efforts for health equity. The Director of Development & Government Relations is an external representative of the health center and a member of the senior staff, partnering closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior staff members.

Requirements

Minimum 5 Years of experience in non-profit development, government relations, public health, or related fields, and at least one (1) year supervising a team.
Proven track record in securing and stewarding private and /or public funding
Experience cultivating relationships with private funding entities, corporate partners, and elected officials.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to represent the organization externally
Demonstrate leadership experience, including supervising staff and managing cross-functional projects.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to think strategically and creatively
Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Lead and grow the organization's private and public grants portfolio: cultivating and stewarding relationships with foundations, corporate partners, and governmental agencies; preparing and submitting grant proposals and applications.
Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with goals for individual giving, corporate and foundation support, and federal and grant revenue.
Serve as lead strategist and relationship manager for major institutional and individual funders; support the CEO in cultivating key donors.
Track emerging funding opportunities and industry trends to expand Hamdard's fundraising pipeline.
Ensure strong grant management practices, including compliance, reporting, and cross-team coordination with the CFO.
Oversee donor database integrity and ensure high standards of donor stewardship.
Record interactions with prospective donors in Hamdard's Salsa database
Oversee the preparation and submission of all grant proposals seeking funding from external public agencies and organizations. Ensure final applications are completed in accordance with required formats, including proposal writing and submission to funding agencies.
Oversee fundraising-related communications, such as annual reports, campaign collateral, and donor updates.
Collaborate with marketing staff/ contractors on messaging that supports donor engagement and public affairs.
Serve as organization liaison to elected officials and governmental partners.
Build and sustain relationships with policymakers to advance public funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
Pursue local, state, and federal public funding opportunities and oversee proposal development, coordination, and submission of required deliverables.
Represent Hamdard in public policy and legislative settings relevant to healthcare, safety net services, and community well-being.
Serve as an articulate, passionate, and visible spokesperson for the organization.
Serve as a member of the leadership team, collaborating on organizational strategy and revenue planning.
Supervise the development team (one grant writer)
Partner with the Board of Directors and CEO to strengthen their involvement in fundraising and public affairs
Create internal and external talking points that support Hamdard's fundraising, government relations, and brand reputation.
