The Director of Data at the DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB) is a pivotal role designed to lead the agency's Data Analytics and Data Engineering teams. This position is newly established, reflecting a strategic shift in how the agency approaches data management. Historically, the analytical and engineering teams operated independently; however, the Director of Data will unify these functions into a cohesive unit, transitioning the agency from a data-focused to a data-centric organization. This role is crucial in setting the direction for data operations, aligning with the organization's Strategic Roadmap and REDI (Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) commitments. The Director will establish a comprehensive data project and product management strategy within an agile framework, ensuring that data initiatives are effectively integrated and optimized. In this capacity, the Director of Data will oversee the implementation of the data infrastructure for DC PCSB's newly approved accountability framework, ASPIRE, and lead the rollout of the new business intelligence tool, Tableau. They will also drive strategic feature adoption in the G2N web application. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director will serve as the 'voice of data,' translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical leaders, thereby ensuring alignment across the organization. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Board, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, and public charter schools' leadership and data teams. The Director of Data will be responsible for leading a team of data, systems, and product engineers, as well as product/project managers or contractors that support data outputs. They will engage with key stakeholders to promote a data-anchored culture, guiding the design and implementation of data products, validating outcomes, and managing data operations both tactically and strategically. This position is essential for fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes data-driven decision-making and enhances the overall effectiveness of the agency's data initiatives.
