POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Data, Systems & Technology is a full-time, exempt position. This is not a traditional systems or project management role. We are seeking a technical, systems-minded builder who can design, connect, and optimize the tools and data that power our organization. This role will own our systems ecosystem including Salesforce, Matchforce, automation tools like Zapier, and emerging AI capabilities to name a few. They will ensure that every department can operate more efficiently and effectively. You will partner across Program, Development, Marketing, Finance, Thrift, and Operations teams to eliminate manual work, improve decision-making, and unlock growth. Your work will directly impact how many young people we serve, how effectively we engage and cultivate volunteers and donors, and how efficiently our team operates day-to-day. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in systems, data, operations, or a related technical role required
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Strong experience with Salesforce (administration required; architecture experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience building automations using tools like Zapier, Make, or similar
  • Proven ability to drive user adoption of new systems and workflows by influencing behavior, simplifying processes, and ensuring tools are intuitive and valuable for end users
  • Demonstrated ability to build and implement systems, not just manage projects
  • Experience working with data, reporting, surveys, and dashboards that drive decision-making
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences across all levels of the organization, with patience, empathy, and a supportive approach that fosters understanding and confidence
  • Comfortable presenting to staff, leadership, and Board members in a clear, confident, and engaging way
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across departments
  • Ability to translate data and systems insights into practical, actionable recommendations
  • Experience integrating or leveraging AI tools (such as workflow automation, reporting, internal tools, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience connecting systems via APIs or advanced integrations is strongly preferred
  • Background in RevOps, BizOps, Data Ops, or similar functions preferred but not required
  • Experience working or volunteering in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve BBBSKC’s full systems ecosystem (Salesforce/Matchforce, Zapier, Dialpad, HeyMarket, Acuity, FormAssembly, SurveyMonkey and more)
  • Design scalable solutions that connect systems, decrease friction, and reduce duplication of work
  • Continuously evaluate and improve how data flows across the organization
  • Reduce reliance on external consultants by building solutions in-house
  • Build and maintain automations across platforms (Zapier, native integrations, APIs where applicable)
  • Identify and implement AI tools to: Automate reporting and summaries Improve internal workflows, dashboards, and staff productivity Enhance communication with volunteers, donors, event participants, corporate partners and more
  • Proactively identify repetitive/manual processes and eliminate or streamline them
  • Ensure data integrity, structure, and accessibility within Salesforce, Matchforce and related systems
  • Build dashboards and KPI reporting that is clear, actionable, and used regularly by leaders from all departments
  • Translate data into insights that support strategic decisions and performance tracking (including agency wide Wildly Important Goals and department goals)
  • Support grant reporting and funder requirements with accurate, timely data
  • Partner with department leaders to identify inefficiencies and design better workflows
  • Improve how we track and grow: Match making, support and retention Volunteer recruitment, engagement and conversion Donor/supporter activity, cultivation, and conversion Thrift revenue and operational efficiency Match activities, ticket distribution and much more
  • Help teams make better decisions, spend less time on admin work and more time on mission impact
  • Serve as a strategic partner to agency leaders and Executive team members across all departments
  • Communicate technical concepts in a clear, practical way
  • Provide targeted staff training and support where needed—but prioritize building systems that are intuitive, user friendly and scalable
  • Attend required program and fundraising events to assist wherever necessary
