Job Description Director of Data Operations The Director of Data Operations is responsible for leading and scaling Enterprise Data Office operations, ensuring the day‑to-day execution, reliability, and resilience of the end‑to-end enterprise data lifecycle. This includes data ingestion, integration, storage, processing, and availability, and the role serves as a key partner to Technology teams, Data Domain Owners, Data Governance leaders, and business users across the enterprise. Essential Functions This leader ensures that high-quality, timely, and reliable data is delivered to business stakeholders and analytics platforms, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data infrastructure, or data operations
  • 3-5+ years of experience leading technical teams or managing data platforms at scale
  • Hand-on experience with cloud data technologies (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure), SQL, Python, and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, dbt, Prefect)
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD practices, and monitoring/logging tools (e.g. Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Working knowledge of data quality, governance, and operational best practices
  • Travel required approximately 10-15% within the United States

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Operations team including data engineers, platform administrators, and support analysts. Drive excellence in data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and data delivery
  • Manage and scale the enterprise data platform(s), including cloud and on-premises solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS/Azure services)
  • Design, monitor, and continuously improve data pipelines to ensure consistent data availability, minimal downtime, and high data quality
  • Own operational KPIs, incident response procedures, and service level agreements (SLAs) for data delivery and platform performance
  • Work closely with Data Engineering, BI/Analytics, Governance, and Security teams to ensure alignment and support cross-functional initiatives
  • Drive automation of repetitive data tasks and implement observability tools to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Ensure data operations comply with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards. Support audit and compliance reporting needs
  • Monitor and optimize cloud data platform spend, storage, and processing costs. Forecast capacity needs and partner with finance and technology leaders on budget planning
  • Establish best practices for data operations, including version control, metadata, lineage tracking, and runbooks. Support audits, regulatory reviews, and risk assessments related to data platforms and operations
  • Partner closely with Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to embed controls into operational processes
