About The Position

The Department of Pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine invites applicants for a full-time Clinical Pathology faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, to serve as Director of Cytogenetics. Applicants must meet CLIA/CAP criteria to direct a cytogenetics lab including ABMGG certification in Clinical Cytogenetics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics; MD and/or PhD candidates are eligible. The successful applicant will have demonstrated leadership experience or potential. Ability and willingness to support the department’s molecular pathology and biochemical genetics services is strongly preferred. Evidence of success in the academic setting, including teaching and publications, is required; external grant-funded research is desirable. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with degree, academic rank, and experience. The salary range is $130,000 - $310,000.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Direct the cytogenetics lab in compliance with CLIA/CAP criteria.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the department's molecular pathology and biochemical genetics services.

  • Conduct research and publish findings in relevant fields.
  • Support the laboratory's testing services including cytogenetics, microarray, and FISH testing.
