The Director of Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the district's K-8 curriculum. This position requires collaboration with principals, department heads, subject matter specialists, and teachers to develop a comprehensive school curriculum and to formulate a philosophy and objectives for the instructional plan. The Director will also oversee the adoption of new instructional materials and methods, ensure the achievement of New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and coordinate professional development for instructional staff.

  • Works with principals, department heads, subject matter specialists and teachers in developing the total school curriculum.
  • Studies, evaluates, and recommends to the superintendent the adoption of new instructional materials, methods and programs.
  • Provides leadership in the development of the K-8 instructional program and achievement of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • Assists in the implementation of the district's in-service education program for the instructional staff.
  • Serves as District Test Coordinator.
  • Works with principals to schedule and organize grade level and departmental meetings.
  • Conducts classroom observations and provides supervision/evaluation of teachers and non-certified staff.
  • Coordinates the selection of textbooks and instructional materials throughout the district.
  • Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training and assigning of instructional personnel.
  • Reviews and evaluates results of district-wide testing programs.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum and instruction.
  • Coordinates professional development to meet instructional needs.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.
  • Valid New Jersey School Administrator Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Director preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership in school improvement, program development and curriculum integration.
  • Ability to plan, organize and administer a district-level professional development program.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
