About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Community Engagement and Equity Officer, the Director of Culturally Responsive Programs (DOCRP) leads the Foundation's culturally specific portfolio within the Community Engagement and Equity Department. This leader will set strategic direction and guide proactive grantmaking, community engagement, and program development with and for specific cultural communities-particularly Black, Indigenous, Latino, AAPI, and immigrant communities. DOCRP will oversee a dedicated team and manage a portfolio that blends grantmaking, convening, advocacy, and partnership-building to increase engagement, trust, and measurable impact in these communities. Beyond grantmaking, the Director will leverage partnerships across the philanthropic, nonprofit, public, and private sectors, as well as engage in public policy efforts. They will also cultivate relationships with donors and explore new opportunities to grow resources and expand grantmaking capacity. DOCSP will champion best practices in participatory grantmaking and inclusive community engagement, advancing the program strategy by monitoring the field and staying abreast of local, regional, and national trends.

Requirements

10 or more years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience with nonprofit organizations, grantmaking, and/or program planning and management.
5 or more years of supervisory experience - building, leading, mentoring, and inspiring team members to strategize, set priorities, and accomplish shared goals.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
Experience coordinating team efforts within an organization or community involving staff, volunteers and/or community members.

Responsibilities

Provide vision, guidance, and support to the Culturally Responsive Programs Branch, supervising a team of four.
Serve on the Community Engagement and Equity Department's Leadership Team, contributing to department-wide visioning, planning, and coordination.
Act as a public representative for OCF's programming related to regions across the state and deliver community presentations and meetings with other foundations; communicate with Board, Leadership Councils, staff and external partners in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Represent OCF at meetings with public agencies, policy makers and other key stakeholders; serve on statewide or regional committees or task forces.
Identify opportunities, set priorities, and establish goals for the branch that position it to adapt and thrive in a changing landscape.
Partner across departments to develop coordinated responses to disasters or other urgent events impacting Oregon communities.
Strengthen and expand partnerships with regional and national funders, businesses, and public-sector allies to amplify OCF's impact.
Serve as a visible and trusted ambassador for OCF's community impact work-delivering presentations, participating in convenings, and representing OCF with partners in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Represent OCF in statewide, regional, and national networks, committees, and task forces to share learning, advance initiatives, and deepen relationships.
Build and sustain relationships with diverse communities and leaders across Oregon, maintaining a deep understanding of community priorities and issues.
Promote authentic community participation and feedback in program development and evaluation.
Serve as a resource for OCF's Board, Leadership Councils, donors, and colleagues on culturally specific issues, nonprofit needs, and statewide priorities.
Partner with the Philanthropic Services Department to engage donors in OCF's priorities and steward them effectively.
Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to tell compelling stories about OCF's work and impact, increasing awareness and engagement.
Work with Finance and other partners to explore innovative funding tools, including impact investing, to expand OCF's reach.
Participate in or lead coalitions of funders, community leaders, and organizations to coordinate advocacy efforts. Serve on state or national policy boards, commissions, or advisory groups aligned with OCF's mission and focus areas.
Partner with the Governor's Office, Oregon Legislature, and state agencies to advance policy priorities.
Oversee implementation of OCF's discretionary proactive portfolios-totaling over $9 million annually in grantmaking (plus partner resources)-across culturally specific programs.
Guide staff in using a range of impact tools, including grantmaking, partnerships, policy advocacy, impact investing, community convening, research, and evaluation.
Apply equitable grantmaking practices to ensure funding accessibility and impact for communities most in need.
Stay current on emerging research and innovative approaches relevant to OCF's culturally specific work and priority areas , identifying opportunities to strengthen investment strategies.
Provide oversight for staff preparing agendas, materials, and presentations for OCF Board committees (Education, Arts, and Strategic Projects) and related Board meetings.
Establish frameworks and standards for culturally responsive program development, implementation, and assessment.
In partnership with the Chief Community Engagement and Equity Officer and program staff, lead strategy development for OCF's Culturally Responsive Programs within a complex, evolving environment. Align strategies with OCF's focus on Targeted Universalism and Belonging, including portfolio areas such as Black Student Success, Latino Partnership Program, Immigrant and Refugee Funders Collaborative, and emerging programs for AAPI and Indigenous communities
In collaboration with the Directors of Community Engagement and Community Impact Programs and the CCEEO, identify opportunities for OCF's grantmaking to deepen impact in Oregon's communities.
Guide, support and supervise a team of community engagement professionals.
Participate in training and opportunities for collaboration with other supervisors, periodically.
