About The Position

The Director of Crisis Intervention Programs is an exempt position responsible for providing on-site response to assist staff whenever necessary. They may provide engagement, counseling, referral, and linkage to formal (community providers) and informal (family, friends, neighbors, school, etc.) resources to prevent ongoing client crisis and support law enforcement in reducing the number of officers deployed to non-emergency situations.

Requirements

  • The Director of Crisis Intervention Programs must have a Masters Degree in Social Work or a Masters Degree in Psychology, Mental Health, or other relevant behavioral science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirement; along with five (5) years of experience in the human services field, as well as knowledge in human development, counseling theories, and practices. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in program planning, evaluation, and management is required.
  • Must be licensed or a Registered Intern with a valid State of Florida License in the discipline of Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, and/or Psychology.
  • Previous experience in the crisis intervention, mental health, or substance abuse field.
  • Knowledge of community organizations and resources.
  • Ability to effectively present information regarding the program to stakeholders, community members, and councilmembers.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment under hostile situations, including potential exposure to verbally and/or physically aggressive clients.
  • Ability to work long hours when required, including working during natural disasters.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Required to use personal car to transport clients.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with current auto insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to Navigator Supervisors, Assistant Program Director, and support staff during assigned shifts.
  • Provide leadership to the program in the absence of the Senior Director of Crisis Intervention.
  • Provide on-site response to assist Community Navigators and Navigator Supervisors, whenever necessary.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of contractual objectives in the assigned areas.
  • Participate in quality improvements committees, planning, and processes, including oversight of peer reviews, as related to internal programs and external reviews.
  • Share rotating on-call responsibilities with the Navigator supervisors and other designated staff.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Crisis Intervention in statistical record keeping associated with clients and program personnel, program planning, community outreach, training, and development of resources for the clients.
  • Work with leadership and finance in reviewing budgets and financials for areas of responsibility
  • Assure policies, procedures, job descriptions, and other information related to the program are current and updated.
  • All other assigned duties.
