About The Position

The Director of Cowboy Innovations Accelerator and Cowboy Technologies, LLC at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is responsible for fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports inventors and entrepreneurs. This role involves leading initiatives that advance innovation-based technologies towards commercialization, while also managing the for-profit venture capital arm that invests in startups affiliated with OSU. The director will collaborate with various stakeholders, including faculty, students, and investors, to drive economic development in Oklahoma.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, science/technology/engineering or related field.
• Ten years of progressive technology-based industry experience in relevant areas.
• Three years of proven supervisory leadership experience.
• Strong technical aptitude and business judgment.
• Knowledge of business opportunities in energy, aerospace, agriculture, and One Health markets.
• Understanding of intellectual property-based business models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and navigate complex problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in business, science/technology/engineering or related field.
• Fifteen or more years of progressive technology-based industry experience.
• Five or more years of supervisory leadership experience.
• Experience in startup accelerator participation or leadership.
• Venture capital investment due diligence experience.
• Network of industry experts in relevant markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Cowboy Innovations Accelerator and Cowboy Technologies, LLC to build a robust innovation ecosystem.
• Oversee pre-accelerator programming and funding for technology development.
• Manage investments in startups and internal OSU technology projects.
• Collaborate with OSU innovators, entrepreneurs, and venture capital partners.
• Facilitate market traction for portfolio startups and assist in capital raising efforts.
• Navigate complex problems and develop solutions in a collaborative environment.
• Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts.
