About The Position

The Director of the Center for Health and Well-being who oversees Counseling and Health Services is responsible for budgetary departments, supervising staff, monitoring intakes, scheduling appointments, assisting with mental health crisis, physical health services, events and activities, office and building maintenance, and supervision of all participants in the Center for Health and Well-being. The Director ensures compliance with university policies and procedures and state or federal mandates for responsibility areas. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists with mental and physical health needs of the students, faculty, staff, and visitors who come in contact with the Center for Health and Well-being.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in counseling or a related area.
  • Must hold Oklahoma licenses in one of the following: Licensed Professional Counseling (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LFMC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Must keep Oklahoma Licensure current at all times.
  • Five years of experience in management of employees.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to manage personnel resources.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or his/her designee may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of all licensed counselors.
  • Supervision of the nurse and the contract with Weatherford Regional Hospital.
  • Supervise front office staff.
  • Monthly time approval for all staff members.
  • Maintain high priority for the confidentiality of all counseling and health records held in the Center for Health and Well-being.
  • Provide free counseling services to all SWOSU students.
  • Provides individual and group counseling to university students within the scope of qualifications.
  • Evaluates students’ academic needs in relation to their mental health concerns and serves as referral source to facilitate students’ academic progress.
  • Provides referral for students needing in-depth or extended counseling to external agencies.
  • Facilitate mental health screenings/assessments for student population.
  • Provide counseling services to athletic department referrals for substance failed drug test.
  • Monitor and check client’s use of health services.
  • Supervise and monitor annual contracts with a designated physician and Weatherford Regional Hospital Convenient Care.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient development and utilization of the Department’s budgetary funds including overseeing and accountability for budgetary record keeping and usage of monies.
  • Manage and renew all service contracts held in the Center for Health and Well-being for fiscal year on July 1.
  • Schedule annual safety trainings including CPR, AED, First Aid, Active Shooter drill, and Intruder drill.
  • Schedule faculty, staff, and student mental health trainings, workshops, and conferences per request.
  • Oversee all ordering of supplies and equipment.
  • Refer all faculty and staff for free Employee Assistance Program-EAP through the HR department.
  • Document and manage all accident and incident reports.
  • Work with Title IX office with all student mental health requests and needs.
  • Supervise and assist with the Bulldog Food and Resource Center coordinator’s duties.
  • Assist with placing and picking up the monthly Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma food order.
  • Overseeing all ordering, daily operation, documentation of numbers, and reports for the Bulldog Food and Resource Center.
  • Responsible for posting of jobs, interviewing, and hiring of all staff.
  • Promote a positive image of SWOSU through participation in community and professional organizations, representing SWOSU at professional meetings and on community committees, and establishing and maintaining credible relations with various constituents.
  • Oversee JED Foundation Alumni Membership.
  • Director of Hunger-Free Campus grant.
  • Director of TimelyCare monitoring.
  • Chair of Certified Health Campus.
  • Chair of Bulldog Food and Resource Committee.
  • Chair of Mental Health and Wellness Task Force Committee.
  • Opioid Abatement Project Task Force Committee.
  • Hungry for Action Higher Ed Committee.
  • Member of BIT/SOC Committee.
  • Member of CHAT Coalition.
  • Member of Bulldog Angel Scholarship Committee.
  • Member of Wellness Committee.
  • Member of Hilltop Central Committee.
  • Available to assist with situations during or after working hours whether in-person, by phone, or email contact.
  • On-call 24/7 for mental health crisis.
  • Assist other departmental staff during the times needed.
  • Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
