About The Position

AZZ has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Corporate Finance at our Fort Worth Texas corporate office. Reporting to the Vice President—Corporate Controller, you are responsible for overseeing the Corporate Finance Team. This position will oversee the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual SEC filings including 10-Q, 10-K and quarterly earnings release. This position will be responsible for all aspects of stock compensation administration and accounting. The position will be responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for the audit of the Company’s employee benefit plans. This position will oversee and guide the implementation efforts related to new accounting standards for AZZ’s Accounting Team and Business Finance Teams. This position will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of Accounting Policies for the Company and evaluating compliance across the finance and accounting teams. This position will also oversee the research and documentation of complex accounting issues in memorandums with reference to US GAAP literature. In addition, this person will work on special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or public accounting
  • Experience in researching, analyzing, and documenting complex accounting matters
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP, including the understanding and application of complex GAAP standards
  • In-depth knowledge of SEC rules and regulations, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Experience working with external auditors during financial statement quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cross-functionally with teams across the organization to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Ability to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work product

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred, or CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or other relevant certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, quarterly earnings release
  • Lead preparation of information for the annual proxy statement
  • Administer and account for all stock compensation transactions, including RSUs, PSUs and ESPP
  • Oversee the preparation of technical accounting research and memos, detailed accounting analysis, and proposed accounting treatment
  • Coordinate, lead and prepare information for the Company’s employee benefit plan financial statements, annual audit and DOL filings
  • Identify and review new accounting pronouncements and regulatory changes and assess their impact on financial reporting; develop new processes and policies to accommodate accordingly
  • Implement new accounting standards
  • Facilitate the design, update and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures with the Accounting and Finance teams to ensure compliance with US GAAP
  • Assist with quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audits, including coordination with external auditors, preparation and/or review of support schedules
  • Assist with internal audits; facilitate the implementation of internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX
  • Provide support for department and organization special projects, as assigned
