As the Director of Corporate Accounting, you will be a crucial part of the finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting, overseeing the month-end close process, maintaining robust SOX controls, and managing monthly account reconciliations. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in finance, SOX compliance, and team leadership. You will work closely with corporate accounting to maintain compliance, implement process improvements, and ensure the financial health of our Corporate and Consolidations group.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
Strong accounting background, including knowledge of recent accounting pronouncements (e.g., ASC 606)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Submit to a criminal background check
Legal right to work in the United States
Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification required.
5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a public company environment and/or Big 4 accounting firm.

Responsibilities

Manage the monthly close processes. Coordinate touchpoints and ensure all key journal entries are recorded timely.
Improve the timeliness of the monthly close process. Strategically align and consolidate the radio segment close processes.
Primary reviewer on key Radio segment monthly and quarterly related tasks
Review monthly Radio segment reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, ensuring all items are reconciled and properly documented.
Identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in account reconciliations.
Implement best practices for reconciliation processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Identify areas for improvement and automation.
Analyze variances from budgeted and forecasted results, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and other adjustments.
Contribute to ad-hoc technical and financial reporting and special projects as needed.
Manage and enforce SOX controls within the Company’s Corporate and Consolidations group, ensuring all controls are executed and documented in accordance with company policy.
Lead remediation efforts for any identified control gaps and material weaknesses for the responsible areas.
Serve as a primary contact for external auditors regarding the financial statement close processes.
Partner with cross-functional teams to drive process efficiencies, automation, and system enhancements.
