About The Position

Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is a Huntsville-based Small Business specializing in providing full-spectrum defense system engineering, research, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and planning services to the U.S. Government. MSRC is seeking a full-time Director of Contracts to lead and execute all aspects of contract management. This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for overseeing the full contract lifecycle while directly supporting business development, proposal efforts, and program execution. This role will oversee a small team and work closely with executive leadership, business development, and program management to ensure compliant, efficient, and effective contract operations.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience in federal government contracting, including both prime contracts and subcontracts.
  • Extensive experience managing and executing work through multiple award contract vehicles, including EXPRESS, OASIS+, GSA MAS, and MDA SHIELD.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and experience with various contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a small business environment.
  • Experience supporting proposal efforts, including contract review, pricing coordination, and risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage agreements with both government and industry partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate must currently possess and be able to maintain an active security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of prime contracts and subcontracts, including pre-award, award, administration, and closeout with specialized experience in executing and managing Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs)
  • Serve as a hands-on contributor in proposal development, including RFP analysis, contract strategy, and pricing support.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including NDAs, teaming agreements, subcontracts, consulting agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Interpret contract terms and conditions; identify risks and provide practical mitigation strategies to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and other applicable federal regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Maintain contract documentation and systems in support of DCAA, DCMA, and other audit requirements.
  • Partner with business development and capture teams to support growth initiatives, including pricing strategies and labor category mapping.
  • Provide guidance to leadership and program teams on contractual, financial, and risk-related matters.
  • Establish and improve contract management processes, tools, and templates appropriate for a small business environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop contracts staff as the organization grows.
