With locations in both Vineland and Cranbury, we are well positioned to provide 24/7 mechanical services to all of New Jersey, as well as Eastern Pennsylvania, and Northern Delaware. Our customers include a wide variety of building owners, contractors, industrial production facilities, commercial enterprises, municipal and government entities, and property managers. In addition to our Emergency Services, we also provide Design and Build Services, Construction Management, and Preventative/Reactive/Predictive Maintenance Programs. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director of Construction is responsible for leading all Construction department functions, including the direction and oversight of HVAC, plumbing, environmental and mechanical projects from conception through completion. This role drives talent development and ensures strong operational execution to support continued business growth, while monitoring compliance with G.E. Mechanical quality and safety standards and all applicable regulations. The Director also maximizes efficiency and resource utilization by implementing ongoing process improvements that strengthen performance and scalability across the operation. The Director is responsible for leadership and oversight of G.E. Mechanical construction operations in both Vineland and Cranbury, NJ.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and 10 years’ experience work in a fast-paced construction department within the mechanical/construction industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field and 6 years’ leadership experience within the mechanical/construction industry
  • Deep knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and project management
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets
  • Proven experience managing project budgets and applying risk management practices
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Expert proficiency in estimating software, strategies, and techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Team-oriented leadership style

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years HVACR/Plumbing/Mechanical/Environmental estimating and project experience
  • Familiarity with MCA/PHCC/AIA Guide Lines/MAIO/Trade Trends
  • Strong conceptual estimating and advanced estimating software expertise

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Construction Department, ensuring alignment with company goals, values, and performance expectations.
  • Drive department financial performance by ensuring the team consistently meets or exceeds annual sales, gross margin, team goals and profitability targets.
  • Establish and execute strategic priorities focused on improving departmental performance, efficiency, and scalability, aligned with the One Page Plan (OPP) and key company initiatives.
  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, and training strategies to ensure the department is staffed with the right talent to meet current demand and future growth goals.
  • Build, coach, and develop high-performing teams by fostering accountability, engagement, and a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop, communicate, and deliver the One Page Plan (OPP), annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
  • Conduct performance reviews and leadership coaching for department managers, setting clear expectations, tracking progress, and ensuring strong execution and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards and legal requirements, while maintaining and improving customer satisfaction through consistent quality, safety, and service execution.
  • Proactively resolve team and operational conflicts by diagnosing root causes, aligning stakeholders, and implementing effective solutions that support strong collaboration and morale.
  • Actively contribute to business development efforts by prospecting, nurturing relationships, and identifying opportunities to expand the department’s customer base and revenue streams.
  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence at both the Vineland and Cranbury, NJ locations through frequent travel to support teams and drive operational excellence.
