About The Position

The Director of Community Standards is responsible for the administration of the student community standards process with careful attention to the care and formation of students consistent with the College's Catholic and Jesuit Mission. The Director must be a skilled collaborator, problem solver and facilitator who will effectively partner with a broad range of students, staff, and faculty across the College including but not limited to members of the Community Standards Board, Peer Conduct Advisory Board, Student Government, Residence Life and Housing, Athletics, General Counsel's Office, CARE Team, Student Accessibility Services, Student Involvement, Public Safety, Government and Community Relations and the Office of Title IX and Equal Opportunity. The Director provides training and education to students, student organizations and other campus constituents on the behavioral expectations, college policies and applicable laws. The Director will incorporate best practices in resolving conflict by employing alternative dispute resolution with a focus on restorative justice principles. The Director will provide oversight and training to student development staff, particularly those in residence life and housing, serving as hearing, appellate officers, panelists or student advisors. The Director ensures that the office procedures, record keeping and reporting are in compliance with all applicable laws to include FERPA, the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act and Title IX. The Director works closely with off-campus students, property owners and city officials to effectively and developmentally respond to quality of life issues in the College Hill neighborhood. The Director will regularly assess the effectiveness of the student conduct process, evaluating student learning outcomes and identifying measures of success. The Director serves on the Student Development Leadership Team, as an Administrator on call and on the Student CARE Team. The Director will also serve on various divisional and College committees as assigned. The Director will maintain accurate and timely records and provide regular reports to campus stakeholders. In addition to reports, the Director must have effective written and oral communication skills. The Director will have oversight of the student Code of Conduct and ensure that policy is reviewed annually and any substantive revisions or edits are endorsed by the College's Student Life Council. Ensuring that conduct procedures and records are in compliance with all pertinent laws to include FERPA, the Clery Campus Crime Act and Title IX. Educating students, student organizations and other campus constituents on behavioral and community expectations.
