About The Position

Under general supervision, directs the provision of community-based services including Supported Employment, Day Services, Shared Living, and the Volunteer Program. Provides ongoing management, training, evaluation, and consultation to staff and volunteers to ensure services promote independence, community inclusion, and achievement of personal outcomes for people supported in accordance with the mission of Sesdac, Inc. (Sesdac). Serves as a member of senior leadership and collaborates closely with program directors to ensure coordination and continuity of supports across residential and community programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, education, social services, or related field.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a supervisory position, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities profession.
  • Knowledge of community-based service delivery including employment supports, day programming, shared living services, and volunteer engagement.
  • Knowledge of personnel management principles and practices including wage and hour regulations and other Department of Labor standards.
  • Experience with or knowledge in staff development and training.
  • Experience and ability in public speaking.
  • Proven success with state and national accrediting/licensing processes.
  • Displays an overall commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Incorporates organization principles (individuality, choice, respect, participation, competence, social connectedness, and natural supports) into all facets of job.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; must be insurable by Sesdac’s insurance carrier.
  • Able to accomplish the essential functions of Community Services Department positions.
  • Is committed to assisting people with intellectual / developmental disabilities to develop and achieve their dreams.
  • Has the presence, stature, and personality to effectively represent the agency to the public, employers, volunteers, community partners, and professionals.
  • Able to attain and maintain CPR and medication certification as required.
  • Engenders trust and confidence in staff members, volunteers, and community members in all interactions.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Maintains ongoing awareness of trends and best practices in community-based services and volunteer engagement.
  • Is a competent manager, self-starter, and requires minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Executive Director and works closely with program directors, in the effective administration of the agency.
  • Acts in the absence of the Executive Director as assigned.
  • Monitors and further develops Sesdac’s community-based supports and volunteer engagement through direct supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Ensures that Community Services and Volunteer Program activities meet or exceed approving/licensing agency and national accreditation standards.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of agency policies and procedures related to community services and volunteer engagement.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and performance evaluation for Supported Employment, Day Services, and Shared Living staff and volunteers.
  • Assists with admission, transition, and discharge processes within Supported Employment, Day Services, and Shared Living programs in accordance with administrative rules and organizational operating procedures.
  • Oversees implementation of supports, support plan changes, and significant changes for People Supported within Community Services programs.
  • Ensures services reflect person-centered planning, individual preferences, and personal outcomes.
  • Ensures programs promote independence, meaningful daily activity, employment opportunities, social inclusion, and community participation.
  • Oversees crisis intervention processes for People Supported within Community Services programs.
  • Ensures compliance with state administrative rules, HCBS requirements, and Sesdac operating procedures.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of accurate and current support plans consistent with agency philosophy and practice standards.
  • Conducts scheduled and unscheduled observations of program operations to ensure quality supports and adherence to standards.
  • Responsible for accreditation activities related to Community Services programs including but not limited to CQL, SPED, Health Department, and DDD/ARSD.
  • Oversees development, implementation, and expansion of Supported Employment services consistent with Employment First principles.
  • Ensures individuals receive support in career exploration, job development, placement, job coaching, and retention.
  • Supports development of community partnerships and relationships with employers to increase inclusive job opportunities.
  • Ensures coordination with Vocational Rehabilitation, schools, and other external partners.
  • Monitors program outcomes including employment placement, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Ensures documentation, billing, and service delivery comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures provision of meaningful day programming that supports skill development, community engagement, and personal growth.
  • Oversees program activities including functional skill development, volunteering, prevocational training, and social opportunities.
  • Maintains and disperses weekly activity schedule.
  • Ensures staff support individuals to achieve greater independence while respecting dignity and choice.
  • Monitors program environments for safety, engagement, and quality of life outcomes.
  • Ensures transportation coordination and community access opportunities.
  • Oversees recruitment, screening, training, and retention of Shared Living providers.
  • Works closely with the Director of Quality Assurance and Admissions to ensure appropriate matching of individuals with providers and safe, supportive home environments.
  • Ensures compliance with licensing standards, documentation requirements, and monitoring procedures.
  • Oversees the completion of home inspections, provider support, training requirements, and crisis response.
  • Maintains communication with individuals supported, families, providers, and case managers.
  • Oversees development, coordination, and expansion of the Sesdac Volunteer Program, including community outreach.
  • Ensures volunteers are recruited, screened, oriented, trained, and supported in alignment with agency mission, values, and confidentiality standards.
  • Promotes volunteer involvement that enhances community inclusion and natural supports for people served.
  • Ensures volunteer roles complement professional services and do not replace required staff functions.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and compliance for volunteer participation.
  • Builds partnerships with civic groups, schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups to expand volunteer opportunities.
  • Recognizes and supports volunteer retention through engagement and appreciation initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Executive Director, program coordinators, and Director of Finance in budget development for Community Services programs and volunteer initiatives.
  • Monitors expenditures and program sustainability.
  • Oversees purchase requisitions within Community Services.
