About The Position

The purpose of the Director of Community Life (DCL) position is to provide management, direction, and oversight to Residential/Transitional Programs at Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) facilities. The DCL, under the direction of the Senior Director, is responsible for maximizing and managing the space in which residential programs are provided. This position works closely with the Directors of Community Life across the continuum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or comparable degree in business, education, human services or related field – or equivalent work experience. Master’s preferred.
  • Previous experience in related field of endeavor preferred.
  • Previous successful people and process management experience.
  • A combination of education and experience can be substituted.
  • Ability to manage, develop and train staff residents for their work roles.
  • Must be highly organized, able to prioritize, and highly flexible/adaptable with limited direct oversight.
  • Willing and able to accept feedback.
  • Able to maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
  • Holds appropriate expectations for guests/participants who are dealing with complex issues contributing to their experience of homelessness.
  • Must possess a heart for ministry to low-income population.
  • Strong computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft 365 - Word, Excel and Outlook and databases.
  • Must be willing to provide onsite oversight 5 days per week, 40 hours, including engagement with staff working Swing, Overnight, and Weekend shifts.
  • Participate in weekend/holiday on call schedule with other Directors and Senior Director.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Faith Agreement, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
  • Active driver’s license as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Fosters a culture in alignment with DRM’s mission and Community Life’s unique stance and emphases: creating a more safe, more secure, more sanitary, more social and more serene environment.
  • Manages the Community Life staff experience: hiring, onboarding, training, managing performance, conflict, payroll, time off etc.
  • Promotes effective communication across DRM departments as they intersect residential/transitional programs at The Crossing campus (Homeless Resolution Team, Clinical Team, Operations, Volunteer Department).
  • Creates and oversees program budget, expenditures, variances, invoices etc.
  • Manages and assures compliance with the grants/contracts/Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs)/relationships that impact Community Life at The Crossing, e.g. HOST partnerships, external/internal publics.
  • Collaborates with other Program Directors to create, disseminate, maintain, and assure compliance with Community Life procedures.
  • Assures maximum efficiency of program resources: bed capacity, staff capacity, and physical resources.
  • In coordination with the Programs Director Team, identifies opportunities for improvement, designs interventions, implements and evaluates efficacy of interventions.
  • Works with external and internal publics to ensure collaborative engagement as it relates to services that impact The Crossing campus.
  • Represents DRM at meetings and committees as directed by the Senior Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
