What you will do: We are looking for a DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT who can help shape our vision and support our mission. Here is what the position will look like. Department Director Responsibilities: Provides strategic direction and oversees the management and maintenance of department deliverables striving for operational excellence (productivity, quality, SLAs, customer experience of services provided, etc.). Builds high performing teams with vision, leadership, goals and metrics. Serves as a role model for team members; takes action and inspires team members to embrace and implement culture initiatives. Provides awareness to staff how their work impacts other departments, programs and the enterprise. Encourages collaboration and holds team members accountable for achieving outstanding results. Responsible for all management functions including: hiring, training, planning and directing work, coaching and staff development, managing and evaluating performance, recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective action procedures and practices, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Develops and manages the department budget. Works closely with Directors across the organization to make tactical and operational decisions that advance company strategies and goals and collaborates to deliver on company-wide deliverables/requirements. Oversees/leads departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives; may lead cross functional teams. Develops and implements department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company policies, rules and regulations. Job Specific Responsibilities: Develops and leads a high-functioning team that contributes significantly to the implementation of comprehensive strategies in the areas of 1) High level relationship development and management in the community 2) Strategic partnerships to advance specific health, wellness and social needs related to health priorities; 3) Impactful financial community investments; and 4) Authentic stakeholder feedback mechanisms. In collaboration with Executives, develops and executes a financial investment strategy for strengthening and building partnerships between Colorado Access and entities in the community that will help advance our mission and interests, including but not limited to a business event sponsorship program. Partners with Executives and other appropriate COA staff to expand awareness and understanding in the marketplace and drive business development. Develops content for the organization’s response to contract and grant proposals to assist in driving company revenue as needed. In collaboration with Executives, oversees the operation of COA’s regional Program Improvement Advisory Committees (PIACs) and any associated subcommittees. Leads a team of professionals either directly, or via a matrix model, in producing quality, timely and relevant staff work (research, analyses, design work, etc.) that creates authentic feedback loops with COA and advances committee conversation, decision-making, and collaborative implementation. In collaboration with Executives as well as the leaders of other applicable departments, supports a comprehensive community engagement plan that promotes the health and well-being of local communities by addressing key health related social needs/social determinants of health, engaging complex populations, and addressing health equity issues in the regions we serve. Implements the external relations, community engagement component of that strategy; and coordinate and track all other related activities across the enterprise. Develops and implements an organizational system for coordinating, tracking and evaluating strategic plan activities related to community engagement across the company. Coordinates reporting, including progress reports, reports for audits, and ad-hoc reporting needs. Plans and manages the budget associated with the design, development, and execution of departmental goals and strategies. Appropriately engages the VP of Health Systems Integration and others to obtain input on direction, priorities, resource allocation and decision making. Other duties as assigned. What you will bring: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may substitute with a preference for ten years progressive relevant work experience. Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in a government/community relations role, prior non-profit and/or healthcare industry experience preferred. Six to eight years’ management related experience working directly with senior executive leadership. Experience facilitating and leading business groups, developing and evaluating partnerships and developing and implementing strategy required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong working knowledge of the healthcare system and managed care principles. Demonstrates support for the company’s mission, vision and values. Strategic business planning, change management, team leadership, and program design/evaluation skills required. Successful track record navigating complex organizations and leading cross-functional teams to achieve enterprise-wide goals. Proven results developing and executing growth, retention, and partnership strategies. Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans. Demonstrated ability to lead others through influence, collaboration and clarity of expectations. Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include outstanding presentation and public speaking skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to interact positively with members, providers, family members, community advocates and others required. Ability to manage and diffuse difficult situations and resolve problems in an efficient and effective manner. Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and decision making skills. Requires the ability to interpret and analyze data related to marketing strategies. Strong time management and organizational skills and ability to work independently. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). May be required to manage multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines. Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving. Pay, Perks and Benefits at Colorado Access: The compensation for this position is $135,500.00-$170,900.00 annually. Colorado Access has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Colorado Access may pay for the position at the time of posting. Colorado Access may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
