The City of O'Fallon is seeking an innovative and driven individual to fill the role of Community Development Director, a key position in the fastest growing community in Southern Illinois. This role is highly visible and involves providing leadership, direction, and administrative oversight to the Community Development Department. The Director will be responsible for managing the community's growth management planning process, which includes resident involvement, the City's Master Plan, Economic Development, zoning and land use ordinances, and development codes and policies. The position requires significant community engagement and public involvement with elected officials, residents, and other governmental entities. As a member of the City's leadership team, the Director will collaborate with other departments, elected officials, residents, and businesses to ensure that the City's mission and core values are integrated into operational activities and services within the Community Development Department. In this role, the Director will manage and supervise the planning, zoning, and building functions for the City, serving as the City Planner and Zoning Administrator. Responsibilities include providing professional assistance, recommendations, and project reviews to the Planning Commission and City Council, coordinating the City's planning, zoning, building, code enforcement, and economic development activities through subordinate staff and supervisors. The Director will also be responsible for developing short- and long-range departmental plans, preparing technical reports, conducting public meetings, and ensuring compliance with City codes and regulations.
