About The Position

This position will direct and have oversight over the administrative operations of the Dental Faculty Practice (DFP) and Advanced Care Clinics, which include General Practice Residency (GPR), Emergency and Urgent Care Clinic, and the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery clinic in the School of Dental Medicine. This position will manage the administrative support teams for both DFP and Advanced Care Clinics and will have financial oversight of both areas. This position will collaborate closely with the Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and Professional Practice, Associate Dean for Financial Affairs and Strategic Projects, Director of Dental Faculty Practice, Program Director of GPR, Director of Human Resources, and other leadership positions to ensure each operation is financially stable and operationally sustainable. This position will serve as a Practice Director for each team and will coordinate with stakeholders when suitable to share resources, as well as making decisions on financial and administrative issues for both areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 6-8 years of professional experience in a dental or academic dental setting, including supervisory experience and practice management.
  • Substitution : A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with CUSDM financial goals and state/university fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Direct staff to coordinate all patient care activities for faculty practice to include, but not limited to, patient callbacks, patient assignment, risk management, progress monitoring, facilities adequacy, patient access to multiple disciplines, and efficient use of personnel and other resources.
  • Manage billing, accounts receivable, collections and patient registration activities for the practice level.
  • Integrate with leadership in the SDM Financial Affairs group to set resource and productivity goals.
  • Provide intellectual leadership for practice methodologies in a higher education/clinical education environment.
  • Assist the billing department manager in the accountability and responsibility for the collection of clinic income. This responsibility includes working with the manager of the billing department to establish and implement appropriate policies and procedures for billing, insurance coordination and collections.
  • Shall effectively assist the dental staff/residents/administrative staff in the development and training of educational programs for staff and patients.
  • Identifies personnel needs, make recommendations, conducts interviews and initiates and coordinates personnel actions.
