This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful St. Lucie River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it an excellent medical facility and a home away from home. As Director of Clinical Engineering, you will lead a high-impact team responsible for the strategic oversight, compliance, and performance of medical technology systems across Cleveland Clinic’s Florida region. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission to deliver world-class care, advance research, and educate future healthcare leaders. A caregiver in this position works weekdays, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with on-call requirements as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or a related field and five years of CE Clinical Engineering/Medical Device leadership OR Bachelor’s Degree and seven years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate or MBA preferred for candidates seeking advancement in executive leadership.
  • Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) for Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET).
  • Additional certifications such as CBET, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement practices, policies and procedures in functional areas of the department.
  • Perform staffing and capacity planning for the department.
  • Ensure accountability for the development, monitoring of and compliance with departmental budgets, including capital and operating.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations and ensure departmental compliance.
  • Ensure delivery and success of projects and initiatives.
  • Lead the development and execution of clinical engineering strategies that align with Cleveland Clinic’s global mission and innovation priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and technology modernization across all facilities, ensuring optimal performance and safety of medical devices.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of medical equipment, including acquisition, maintenance, and decommissioning, with a focus on reliability, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Implement and monitor departmental policies, procedures, and performance metrics to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage multimillion-dollar capital and operating budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Conduct capacity planning and workforce optimization to meet evolving clinical demands.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and international regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, Joint Commission).
  • Lead risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for medical device safety and performance.
  • Direct cross-functional teams in the successful execution of complex projects, including hospital expansions, technology upgrades, and system integrations.
  • Collaborate with Cleveland Clinic Innovations and Lerner Research Institute to support translational research and commercialization of new technologies.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the department and across the organization.
