About The Position

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) is seeking an exempt Director of Clinical Education for Physical Therapy on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, academic and research advising, clinical practice in the pro bono Center for Occupational and Physical Therapy, and service. The role involves securing approximately 310 clinical placements each year in collaboration with the co-Director, Clinical Education. This includes developing strong partnerships with community clinics and hospitals, vetting new sites, and collaborating with leadership to secure placements. The director will also develop strong collegial relationships with clinical instructors, meet regularly to evaluate student performance, provide support for instructors when students are not meeting expectations, and support instructor development through continuing education and consultation. Furthermore, the director will develop strong relationships with students to ensure appropriate support during clinical experiences, ensure adequate student learning, help resolve conflicts, develop learning plans for struggling students, and remediation plans for those who fail clinical experiences. The role also involves developing clinical education experiences for students on decelerated academic plans. Strong collegial relationships with the co-director of clinical education, core physical therapy faculty, and administrative support personnel within the PT department are essential. The director will also work collaboratively with university departments and personnel who support clinical education, such as the ASHS Office of Clinical Affairs, and gather, manage, and analyze data for accreditation reports and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in Arizona
  • Doctoral degree (DPT)
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience

  • Gather, manage and analyze data that contributes to accreditation reports and maintenance
