About The Position

The Director of Campaign and Individual Gifts serves as an external “driver” to guide and direct campaign leadership to consider the FFEE capital campaign and act as a point of accountability for the organization. This role also has key leadership responsibilities on the Development Team and is responsible for carrying a donor profile of up to 100 individuals making gifts at the cumulative sum of over $200,000 in support of the Mission Impact Fund.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in philanthropy, business development, or other related field is required; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a development or fundraising role is required.

  • 5 plus years minimum required experience in major gift fundraising
  • A record of significant personal achievement in major gift fundraising at the level of $10,000 or more.
  • A proven ability to forecast and attain fundraising goals.
  • Experience in working with high net worth individuals and demonstrated success in personal cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts.
  • Computer software skills required include: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Blackbaud Altru.
  • A deep understanding of fundraising techniques is required.
  • The ability to build relationships with donors and influence their decisions about giving is required.
  • The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.
  • The ability to speak, read and write in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in the museum and/or entertainment park industry is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Guide a small case task force to develop the campaign case for support and then subsequent collateral in partnership with outside council.
  • Manage the development of the campaign brand and voice in partnership with the Conner Prairie marketing team and any outside council, as necessary.
  • Leverage the most effective leaders, specifically the campaign’s volunteer leadership, Museum executive leadership and Conner Prairie Development team to raise money.
  • Orchestrate monthly meetings/follow-up to monitor and gauge progress and make recommendations on all aspects of activity (prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, follow-up, closing strategies and stewardship).
  • Accountable for establishing benchmarking targets to ensure activity and financial goals are met and exceeded in a timely manner.
  • Manage a portfolio of 100 or more individual donors capable of supporting the Museum with gifts of $1,000 and greater to support the solicitation of more than $1,000,000 in gifts (operating, capital, and planned gifts) each year.
  • Execute a minimum of 12 face-to-face meaningful donor engagement calls per month.
  • Manage the development and implementation of major gift solicitation strategies as well as planned giving strategies.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on progress and outcomes against department goals and the Museums SMART goals.
  • Research industry, organizational data and trends to create a productive individual giving program.
  • Collaborate with development team members and business intelligence department initiatives.
  • Supervises team as assigned.
