About The Position

Responsible for managing the team responsible for the origination of new and renewal loan prospects and the management of the existing non-troubled asset in the Commercial & Industrial (“C&I”) Loan portfolio. Work with loan officers and business development officers as they move through packaging, underwriting, structuring, boarding and administration of the loans. This includes objectives related to loan production, portfolio growth, profitability, credit quality, portfolio administration, management, collection, liquidation, and litigation associated with the loan portfolio. Responsible for input to the Chief Credit Officer for the C&I Loan policies and procedures. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Exercises sound credit judgement in approving loans within established guidelines or recommending loans for approval by loan committee that meet the objectives and are compliant with credit policies and regulatory guidelines and laws. Essential Job Functions Oversee / Assist with all C&I and Small Business Loan Officers responsibilities. Maintain personal loan production levels as specified by the Commercial Lending Manager and Chief Lending Officer. Provide recommendations for C&I and Small Business Loan Officers talent acquisition and retention. Assist the officers with the Underwriters, Loan Processor, Loans Closers and Portfolio Managers as needed. Collaborate with Executive Management in creation of and implementation of department Strategic Plan. Collaborate with Executive Management in creation of and execution of department Budget. Collaborate with Business Banking, Treasury Management, and Commercial Lending Leadership to develop and install full relationship banking practices. Provides market trends and information to team, Manager, Chief Lending Officer, and Executive Management. Other duties as specifically requested by Manager / Credit Union Executive Management as requested. Solicits and services a variety of loans Recommend credits for approval or declination. Inspect real property to ensure the condition and quality of collateral. Monitor existing portfolio for performance, compliance, and ongoing needs. Cross sell services to develop and maintain a complete member relationship. Review and analyzes financial data submitted by borrower to determine credit worthiness and ability to repay request as structured. Calls on existing client’s members periodically as part of a program of on-going member contact. Provides guidance to credit analysts and support staff and other loan officers. Represent the credit union in negotiations and loan closings. Monitors the groups loan portfolio on a continuous basis. Monitors the groups loans after booking to ensure that they were properly booked. Review the groups loan documentation to ensure consistency with loan approval requirements and proper collateral perfection and lien position. Organize electronic files according to Synergy procedures. Assist in ordering of all necessary third-party reports. Monitor the groups preparation of the Borrower Risk Rating sheet. Assist in compiling documentation for potentially new vendors; submit to CCO/Vendor Management for approval; follow up when necessary. Assists in compiling Broker approval package, including SAMS verification, for Chief Credit Officer approval. Assist Underwriting group when needed with completion of financial spreads in Moody’s, loan presentations in Sageworks and modification memos as directed. Assist Portfolio Management group when needed with completion of financial spreads in Moody’s, annual reviews, and portfolio management reports, as directed. Assist in managing construction loan draws when needed

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 10 years’ experience in Government Guaranteed and commercial lending with at least 10 years’ experience as a loan officer or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial lending along with compliance and credit regulations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and JHA.
  • Professional written, verbal communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to produce quality work within tight time frames while managing multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work on Credit Union core processing systems (Silverlake and Symitar) and department specific processing systems (Sageworks).
  • Strong work ethic, the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines, advanced interpersonal skills, excellent communication, strong problem-solving skills, and the desire to work as a team to support the overall success of the Credit Union.
  • Strong knowledge base about conventional and SBA policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant industry certification.
