About The Position

As SCM’s Director of Business Development, you will be based in the corporate office, contributing to the leadership of the construction team. This position will involve overseeing all project execution and leading and developing project leadership and our front line managers to execute projects safely, on time, and within budget. The right candidate should be an assertive leader who is comfortable speaking in front of groups and communicating with clients internally and externally. Additionally, this position will require working with the preconstruction team, negotiating contracts, reviewing schedules, and monthly project financials. The ideal candidate exemplifies leadership, is detail-oriented, a self-learner, a builder of processes, and comfortable maintaining a work-life balance in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ Years of relevant experience at a commercial general contractor
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Project Management experience
  • Proficiency with AIA contracts
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Specifically Excel), and Google Suite products.
  • Public Speaking – Ability to speak clearly and convey intended messages to large and small audiences.
  • Negotiation – Ability to negotiate contracts with customers in accordance with the values and objectives of Spartan.
  • Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to be tactful and articulate in stressful situations with people from all backgrounds.
  • Business Acumen – General business knowledge and ability to ensure brand guidelines. Strong understanding of business revenue goals.
  • Initiative – Has a bias for action and is not afraid to be the first to speak up or take a fresh approach to something. Appreciates the trust and autonomy that comes with a macro-managed environment.
  • Organization – Able to handle a variety of tasks while still practicing good time management and communication to deliver assigned projects or important project milestones on time. Tend to multiple problems at once.
  • Customer Service – Treats internal and external stakeholders alike as a customer and has a service mindset. Seeks to identify solutions and addresses conflict in a tactful and empathetic way.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain $50-100M in Annual Revenue
  • Strategic and Tactical execution of SCM Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and oversee, project teams across the country.
  • Focused on the safety of our teams and all project stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and negotiating contracts.
  • Manage monthly project financials, schedules, and forecasts.
  • Attending State and National Trade Shows.
  • Engage in speaking events at industry related trade shows and events.
  • Support recruiting and hiring of new team members.
  • Support the estimating and preconstruction team to ensure projects are awarded and completed successfully.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings and communication plan(s) regarding projects among team and/or client.
  • Lead the project close-out procedures to ensure projects are turned over successfully.
  • Assist Project Manager in setting metrics for KPI’s that align with SCM and customers objectives.
  • Work closely with the project and construction management team to evaluate supplier performance indicators, invoices/billings, schedule, and budgets.
  • Lead Pre-Mortem and Post-Mortem risk reviews.
  • Assist in annual planning and program build out of SOP’s.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
