RIX Industries is a technology-focused company specializing in the design, development and manufacturing of gas generation systems, precision compressor solutions, and cryogenic cooling technologies for critical applications in Marine, Aerospace, Land, Energy, Industrial, Medical, and Critical Infrastructure markets. Founded in 1878, the company is headquartered in Benicia, CA, and operates additional facilities in Sparks, NV. Position Summary The Director of Business Development – Industrial Refrigeration Systems is responsible for expanding the company’s presence within the North American industrial refrigeration market. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities, establishing relationships with key industry stakeholders, and positioning the company’s compressor technologies with refrigeration contractors, engineering firms, OEM package builders, and large end users. The position will drive market entry and growth by identifying strategic opportunities, developing customer relationships, and converting technical advantages into project wins across cold storage, food processing, and industrial refrigeration applications. Location: This is a remote position and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • 10 years of experience within industrial refrigeration, HVAC-R, or related process cooling markets.
  • Demonstrated success developing new accounts and winning complex technical sales opportunities.
  • Experience selling, supporting, or specifying one or more of the following: Industrial refrigeration compressors Compressor packages or skids Industrial refrigeration systems Process cooling systems
  • Strong working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and industrial refrigeration applications.
  • Familiarity with screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, and compressor package systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and translate engineering advantages into customer value.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with contractors, engineering firms, OEMs, and industrial end users.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business development, and opportunity pipeline management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time depending on business need.
  • U.S. Citizen or Qualified U.S. Person in accordance with 22 CFR 120.15.
  • May require the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.

  • Experience introducing new technologies or entering new markets within industrial refrigeration or HVAC-R industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to establish the company’s compressor technologies within the industrial refrigeration market.
  • Identify and pursue high-value opportunities across cold storage, food processing, distribution, ice rinks, and industrial process cooling markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with refrigeration contractors, engineering firms, OEM package builders, and system integrators.
  • Establish preferred supplier status for compressor packages and system upgrades with key industry partners.
  • Target large refrigeration operators and multi-facility customers to expand market presence.
  • Lead development of major opportunities for compressor packages and engineered refrigeration solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to support system design discussions, compressor selection, and application development.
  • Support proposal development, pricing strategy, and commercial negotiations for large projects.
  • Actively identify new projects, retrofit opportunities, and compressor replacement programs.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of opportunities from early concept through project award.
  • Translate compressor performance, reliability, and efficiency advantages into clear economic value for customers.
  • Provide market feedback to engineering and product teams regarding application requirements, competitive positioning, and emerging market needs.
  • Track competitive positioning of major compressor suppliers and identify opportunities to displace incumbent equipment providers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and associations such as IIAR and related refrigeration forums.
  • Maintain visibility within the refrigeration contractor, engineering, and industrial refrigeration community.
